Journal commencing January 1st, 1849 of a trip to California a[nd] gold digging : and related papers, 1849 January 1 - 1850 August 7.

Account of the author's experiences during his voyage around the Horn to California on the ship, Daniel Webster, his stay in the San Francis co vicinity, and his return to Boston via Panama on the steamer, California. Accompanying documents include a "passport" signed by George Briggs, Governor of Massachusetts, a conveyance of power-of-attorney, and other related papers. Also includes typed transcript of journal.
